You can catch exclusive performances of the Damsel/Wife/Witch song cycle by Lewis Murphy and Laura Attridge at Glyndebourne this month, as part of their pre-show concert series. These recitals will be held at 3pm on the 10th, 11th and 17th in the Organ Room, and entrance is free to audience members attending the day’s main show.

The cycle will be performed by Jerwood Young Artist mezzo soprano Marta Fontanals-Simmons and pianist Matthew Fletcher.

About Marta

Marta studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and was the joint winner of their prestigious Gold Medal competition in 2015. In addition to her operatic work, Marta is a keen exponent of the concert and oratorio repertoire, appearing in such venues as St John’s Smith Square, St James Piccadilly, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Christchurch Spitalfields. Marta was one of the four Jerwood Young Artists at Glyndebourne Festival in 2015 and plans to return in the new year to take the role of Ursula in Nothing, a main stage new commission youth opera for Glyndebourne based on the novel by Danish author Janne Teller and composed by David Bruce.
